Out on the Road

Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven’t posted for awhile but life just seems to take over sometimes and things are out of your control. I’m back now, not sure how long for though, so no promises. No, I’ll try my best.

Fiskars will be out on the road doing demos all over the country, so watch out for us. Kath will be doing demos in Scotland so make sure you go and visit her at a HobbyCraft near you, or at least close by. I’m sure she will be letting us all know where she’s going to be on her blog. And, Rachel and the others will be out and about too. Take a look here to find out the dates and locations of demos near you.

I had a great time at the Oxford Street and Bluewater John Lewis stores, although it was a little while ago. A belated thank you to all the people I met, crafters and John Lewis staff, I had a great time. Hopefully see you again soon.

stockholmpanoramaI am demoing for Fiskars a little further afield too, I am off to Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday to demo at a show out there for 4 days and I’m so excited. The week after that I’m in Oslo, Norway, so really looking forward to that too. I’ll be taking pictures and letting you all know how it went when I get back. As long as I can get access I’ll put a few things on facebook and twitter too while I’m out there.

I still have work tonight and a million things to do before I leave on Wednesday so farvel for now as they say in the Nordic states.

Until next time …

Gadgets Galore!

Hey Guys

Wow, it’s been so long since I wrote a post on the blog, I apologise. It’s been all go for the last few weeks so I’m sure I’ll be forgiven.

From Ally Pally

I was at the beautiful Alexandra Palace last weekend and it seems I haven’t stopped since. The Big Stamp & Scrapbooking Show was great last weekend, even though during setup, the day before, we always wonder if we’ll get there on time. Well, we did get there and lots of crafty ladies and gentlemen stopped by, it was so nice to see you all. I also got a chance to catch up with my other craft buddies and made new friends, so all in all a fabulous time was had.

I was demonstrating the 3 new Fiskars tools which are the Fuse Creativity System, AdvantEdge and Interchangeable Border Punch. I absolutely love all these tools because the large range of designs for the punches and dies are so beautiful. It’s one of those where you want them all and it’s so hard to choose just a couple.

My next stop is going to be Manchester, but it’s not until September so I should have a few more ideas with the tools by then. If you’re around that area I hope to see you there.

In the meantime, I will be posting on the Fiskarettes Blog as well as this one and I hope to be getting some responses from you all.

Before I go, I wanted to mention a new page, It’s called Just Niralee and its all about a uni photography student. Have a look and let me/Niralee know what you think.

Until next time

Crafting Heaven…

The sun has finally deciding to come out and play, although it’s taking a bit of persuading, and the cold and wind are still very reluctant to go. It looks like it is going to be a memorable April 2013 even if it’s only the weather we remember. Feeling like a treat is in order I go to the craft room and open up the box which contains a magnificent machine, which is The Fiskars Fuse Creativity System!!

Now, I love to stamp, I love to emboss and I love die cutting, so this is like finding heaven. I love, love love it. Why? Because, this machine will do all of these things together in one pass. I used to dream of being able to do this years ago when I first started stamping and getting it all smudged, my prays have been answered, I’m a happy crafter, can you tell?Fiskars Fuse Creativity System Competition

I know that you want one too, and you can, I suggest you get yourself off to the Fiskarettes Blog and submit a project so that you can win one. Get your skates on because the competition isn’t going to be around for ever.

I feel so lucky that I have the Fuse already and I know that it’s going to be an invaluable tool in my craft room from now on. Its ease of use is definitely a plus and the fact that I can use all the dies that I purchased from other manufacturers means that I don’t have to discard them just because I have a new piece of equipment. Having the potential to use up to 12”x12” dies is an added bonus for scrap bookers and card makers alike. In addition to all of this, it will cut multiple sheets with one die and one pass, which means time saving! And, when you have finished all your cutting, stamping and embossing, it will fold neatly away using minimal space. Above all, thinking about why we want a Fuse and the objective of having it, is that it can be used to make beautiful creations.

I’ve been busy making samples as I will be at Alexandra Palace, London, for the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show this weekend, 13th-14th April 2013. So, come along and see the Fuse being demonstrated and have a go yourself. The Fuse will be available to purchase at the Art of Craft stand, which is where I will be too, so pop over and see us. I’m looking forward to meeting all you crafty guys n gals.

Do you think Spring is here yet?

I hope you all had a fab Easter, especially if you were one of the lucky people to have been on a break. No, such luxury for me!! I’ve been working through the break and so haven’t had a chance to craft. No worries, I will definitely be making up for that soon.

I went out into the garden this morning, this is rarflowere!! I am supposed to be a gardener, well, that’s what I say to everyone, however, it’s quite depressing to be outside in April and still see snow lingering around. Where are all the flowers they promised I’d get in spring if I planted them in October?? I’m at a bit of a loss as to if I should plant things that I’m supposed to in March, even though it’s April. It’s all very confusing. I can’t even imagine how the birds are feeling.

Anyways, forget the garden, I’ll just end up really confused and frustrated so let’s head back to the craft yard, probably a better bet.

I had been “tidying” the craft yard for the last few days and getting distracted so it probably took a lot longer then it should have. But those distractions weren’t just wasted time as I did come across a lot of things that I had totally forgotten about. Is it just me, or have you ever bought stuff, thinking you haven’t got one only to find an identical “thing” as soon as you go to put your purchase away? I did find a lot duplicates while I was spring cleaning so I’m a lot more organised now, although I still need to sort a lot out. A few of the distractions caused me to make a card or two, so this is what I ended up with. It’s amazing what you can do when your tidying. I found a load of sticky gem stones and a couple of flower dies that I had bought a long time ago. Put these things together with some new items and hey presto.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got such a lot of stuff that I’ve just forgotten about. I think I am going to have to do a bit more “tidying” and see what sort of a reaction the next lot of distractions causes.

If you’ve done the same as me and bought 2, 3 or more of the same thing, let me know and together we can think of some ideas to use it.

Well, until next time

Out of the cold

HobbyCraft NECBack home from Birmingham and into the warm. We had a lot of fun at the NEC while at the HobbyCrafts show. It seemed to be snowing the whole time the Fiskars Team were there, I’ve never known it to be so cold in March before. Even though the winter decided to stay for longer than normal, the lovely crafty ladies and gents still managed to venture out and come to see us, it was great to see you all, meeting the regular crafters and new ones alike. We spent a fabulous 4 days together and I will miss my buddies Kath and Rachel, however, we will be together again in November for the next NEC show. Ready to get into mischief again, I’m sure.

This time, I had time to shop as I didn’t have to do the Prima shows, and let me tell you, I managed to get some fab stuff. Anything sparkly and I go weak at the knees and there was no lack of glitter, gems and shiny items. I could definitely have brought the lot so I did have to seriously discipline myself.

Distress Ink, Mask, Stick & Spray Sticky back gems

There are some pictures missing due to the fact that I am totally amazed at how much I crammed in my car, I obviously had problems with self control, and haven’t emptied it yet!! I think a visit to craft buyers anonymous is due.

I also got a melt pot, which I’m really looking forward to having a lot of fun with, and if you’re a novice at using one, like me, let’s learn together. I know I’ll make lots of mistakes and I promise I’ll tell you about them.

In the next few weeks I am going to make time (space) and sort out my stash so I can get on and do some making. I will be using both new and old craft box goodies so if there’s anything you want me to do let me know.

I’m off to get ready for my airport run now, lucky me!! So, let’s see what the roads are like to Heathrow and hopefully I’ll get back at a decent hour and the journey won’t be too long.

So, until next time

Back and ready to go again

Desk at Harrogate

HAD SO MUCH FUN, THANK YOU HARROGATE =D

Hey Everyone, I’m back from Harrogate and a happy to be home, but it was great fun at the Great Northern Papercrafts Show. My workspace was a big mess, as per usual, but then again, what’s new?? We had some lovely samples, made my Kath and myself and even though I tried I didn’t get any more done while I was at the show. It was quite busy and to be honest, I spent a lot of time talking to the lovely people that came to stand instead. I thought that was a better choice.

Let me tell you, a huge lot of punched confetti was left behind for the cleaners, which, I’m sure they won’t be happy about as the AdvantEdge was put through its paces over the weekend. I met lots of guys’ n gals and, let’s say, my first visit will definitely be followed by a second later on in the year. I can’t wait.

I was exhausted by the long drive back but was so pleased that a fajita dinner was waiting for me when I got home. THANK YOU GIRLS!

Well, I suppose we will all be preparing for the HobbyCrafts show at the NEC later this week. Although, I am not sure yet, as I haven’t had the go ahead, there may be a surprise. I don’t want to say anything right now because I don’t want to disappoint, just in case. The AdvantEdge will definitely be there along with me and Rachel. Kath will be doing the Fiskars workshops, so it will be a fun four days.

Well, I’m going to sort out the washing and unpack now. So, until later.

Happy Crafting

It’s Showtime

This weekend is the Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza in Harrogate. Are you going? If you are then make sure you come and see us at the Art of Craft stand, where we’ll have a load of goodies for you including the brand spanking new AdvantEdge.

AdvantEdge-Punch-System_product_mainI’ll be demoing this fab new tool to the Fiskars range, so it’s your opportunity to come and see it first hand. I know I’ve mentioned it previously but I can’t say enough about it.

It’s probably one of the easiest tools I’ve used to make borders and I can truly say that I haven’t wasted any pieces of paper or card because there’s just no need to line anything up once you’ve put your paper into the tool. It does it all for you. It’s a really easy system.

The starter kit comes with the tool and a lovely floral punch and there are a further 8 you can get separately, there’s pictures of the designs below. It’s not just for paper either, it’ll punch up to 210gsm.

There’s also another new tool called the Interchangeable border punch and the punches that fit into that can also be used with the AdvantEdge. This gives you access to another 8 punch designs to choose from. You’ll feel like a spoilt princess. Let me mention that you can win one of these fabulous gadgets by going to www.Fiskarettes.co.uk. All you have to do is join the blog and upload a picture of one of your projects. You don’t even have to use Fiskars tools. If your project is voted the favourite, you could be the new owner of one of the newest tools around. You have to give a go, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Well, I think I’ve rambled on for long enough and I probably should pack. Time permitting, I’ll try and take a few pics at the weekend and tell you about my adventure when I get back. I’d also like to mention that if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see on this blog please leave a comment and I’ll do my best. So, until next time,

Happy Crafting

As promised

Interchangeable Boarder Punch Designs

Hi guys, I said I’d upload some pics and here I am!

I wanted to show you a couple of projects made with the new fantabulous gadget from Fiskars, the AdvantEdge and by using it you have a definite advantage if you like to decorate your cards and scrapbooks with fancy borders or ribbon borders.

When the Stitches trade show came to the NEC, I demonstrated the AdvantEdge and also its baby brother, the new Interchangeable Border Punch. As I’m a self confessed gadget girl, I loved both of these tools.

First of all, whenever I’m at a show I do get a lot of ladies asking if the border punches are a unit in their own right, or if they can get “cartridges” to swap the designs. As we know, until now, we had to get different punches for each design and if you’ve got space issues like mine you have cluttered cupboards bursting open and storage nightmares. Well, Fiskars have listened to all our prayers and sorted out the storage problem, as the “cartridges” are all stackable and to top it all off, they have also given us some fabulous designs.

WP_20130218_005The Interchangeable Border Punch’s big brother, AdvantEdge uses the largest punches currently on the market, measuring 2.25″ x 2.25″ the punch outs can be used as toppers for greetings cards as well as edgings, in this case bigger is definitely better! Slide and lock technology allows for very quick and easy production of borders saving time and any paper/card from mucked up attempts, as it works first time and every time. Idiot proof or Hina proof as I like to call it. The starter kit comes with a beautiful floral design and a further 8 designs are available separately. The kit also comes with an adapter plate, which is genius, as this allows the use of another 9 designs, made for the interchangeable border punch.

I will be demonstrating these fab new tools at The Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza on 16th & 17th March 2013. This takes place at The Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate. If you are there, I’d love to see you so come along and say hello.

Fiskars are actually giving away one AdvantEdge as part of a competition. All you need to do is go to www.Fiskarettes.co.uk join up on the website and upload a picture of one of your makes, you don’t even have to use Fiskars tools in particular. SO DO IT NOW!!! You never know and lets face it, what have you got to lose?

Before I go, here’s a couple of pics of cards using the AdvantEdge and Interchangeable Border Punch. Hope you enjoy them. Feel free to let me know what you think or if you have any questions. I’m always open to suggestions so if you’ve got any ideas send me a comment.
