Messing around in the Yard

cardHaving found some time from somewhere I decided I would mess about in the craft yard. Sometimes it’s just nice not to be making anything in particular and finding bits n bobs you have lying around. This is normally the case when I “tidy up”.

I thought I’d get some of the die cuts out that I did at Ally Pally while demonstrating the Fiskars Fuse, and see what happens.

So, I quickly decided what to put together to make a card but then I thought I’d throw in a few other things, just because!!

I remembered the WOW embossing powders I got when I was at the NEC last month, there’s some fab colours that WOW do and I think I got about 14 different ones, so they’ll be coming out again soon. After picking the colour I heat embossed the dress diecut, it needed a bit of sparkle. Then I was hunting around for a sentiment and I found a box of phrases to go, you know, the ones that come in a box that looks like a Chinese take-away. It’s amazing what you accumulate over time, so I fished out a phrase and that was it really. Added a few embellishments and it was all done.closeDress

If I started to use all the things I already have and not buy anymore stash, I’m sure I would find whatever I needed in the yard. Now, there’s a thought…

Anyway, I hope this gives you a few ideas about looking around your craft areas for stash you might have forgotten about and putting together things new and old.

Let me know that you stop by and If there’s anything you want to comment on, please feel free, it would be lovely to hear from you.

Until next time …

Crafting Heaven…

The sun has finally deciding to come out and play, although it’s taking a bit of persuading, and the cold and wind are still very reluctant to go. It looks like it is going to be a memorable April 2013 even if it’s only the weather we remember. Feeling like a treat is in order I go to the craft room and open up the box which contains a magnificent machine, which is The Fiskars Fuse Creativity System!!

Now, I love to stamp, I love to emboss and I love die cutting, so this is like finding heaven. I love, love love it. Why? Because, this machine will do all of these things together in one pass. I used to dream of being able to do this years ago when I first started stamping and getting it all smudged, my prays have been answered, I’m a happy crafter, can you tell?Fiskars Fuse Creativity System Competition

I know that you want one too, and you can, I suggest you get yourself off to the Fiskarettes Blog and submit a project so that you can win one. Get your skates on because the competition isn’t going to be around for ever.

I feel so lucky that I have the Fuse already and I know that it’s going to be an invaluable tool in my craft room from now on. Its ease of use is definitely a plus and the fact that I can use all the dies that I purchased from other manufacturers means that I don’t have to discard them just because I have a new piece of equipment. Having the potential to use up to 12”x12” dies is an added bonus for scrap bookers and card makers alike. In addition to all of this, it will cut multiple sheets with one die and one pass, which means time saving! And, when you have finished all your cutting, stamping and embossing, it will fold neatly away using minimal space. Above all, thinking about why we want a Fuse and the objective of having it, is that it can be used to make beautiful creations.

I’ve been busy making samples as I will be at Alexandra Palace, London, for the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show this weekend, 13th-14th April 2013. So, come along and see the Fuse being demonstrated and have a go yourself. The Fuse will be available to purchase at the Art of Craft stand, which is where I will be too, so pop over and see us. I’m looking forward to meeting all you crafty guys n gals.
